Do I need to provide the moving truck?

Yes — our labor-only model means you rent the truck (U-Haul, Penske, etc.) and we provide the loading/unloading crew. This keeps your cost lower than full-service movers.

Do you offer same-day moving?

Yes! Same-day rates are available — $75/hr per worker inside Bellingham city limits.

Cast Iron Moving was founded in Bellingham in 2014. We’ve been serving Whatcom County and the surrounding Pacific Northwest region for over a decade, and we’re proud to still be your neighbors.

How much does Cast Iron Moving charge?

Our standard rate is $65/hr per worker inside Bellingham city limits (2-hour minimum). Outside city limits — including Ferndale, Lynden, and Birch Bay — the rate is $70/hr per worker (3-hour minimum). Same-day moves are $75–$80/hr per worker depending on location. There are no hidden fees — you always know your cost upfront.

Is there a minimum number of hours?

Yes. Moves inside Bellingham city limits have a 2-hour minimum. Moves outside city limits — such as Ferndale, Lynden, Birch Bay, and surrounding areas — have a 3-hour minimum. Same-day rates also apply the same minimums.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Bellingham, all of Whatcom County, Skagit County, and can handle long-distance moves to King County and Seattle.

Leighton and Ames exceeded our expectations moving a heavy oak bed frame up a tight stairway. They approached the job cheerfully with only one inch to spare getting the heavy awkward Queen size frame up those stairs without a hitch or bump to the walls on either side. Wonderful. Very efficient and friendly. Had to had them open the truck back up as I forgot a few items. They just said “no problem”! They pecked everything with extra care in that truck so when it left I really didn’t have any worries. They were wonderful and the cost savings with this company was HUGE as they have the customer rent the U-Haul, but then they pick it up and drop off so it really is no extra work for the customer at all!! I’d sure use them again!

This is the second time we’ve used Cast Iron Moving for a local move here in Bellingham. They’ve done a great job each time, optimizing crew size to the logistical constraints of the job (elevators, etc.) to make the process as time- and cost-efficient as possible. Dominick is great to work with on arrangements and communicates well throughout the process. The crews were professional and careful with our furniture, asked great questions and offered welcomed suggestions. I’ll use Cast Iron Moving again in the future and don’t hesitate to recommend them to others.

The guys showed up early, did 4 hours of work in 2 hours, disassembled and reassembled some furniture and moved a piano among other heavy items. The were careful not to scuff floors or walls and were unfailingly good humored. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. Ames and Qwyn were cheerful, hung pictures, and offered some positive suggestions.

These guys are beyond amazing. We were scammed by another company and Dom and his team stepped right up to help us with no notice. 4 guys showed up the very next day after we called them and they wrapped and got everything into the garage and then the next morning, three guys showed up to load a very large semi. They meticulously ’tetrised’ the Semi so absolutely everything fit! And we were extremely thankful for the kindness and carefulness. No company will do a better job for you.

Glad I found Cast Iron Movers. We had a 16x8x8 POD to unload at the new house, the pod was placed on an angle, of course the new house had stairs and to top it off we had to reschedule when we had to move our move in date by a week. Dom, Will Ned and Lyndon were champs, handling all the issues easily and getting the job done on time. They took care to move things safely and handled all our items, including a grandfather clock my grandfather built with great care. I would recommend Dom’s Cast Iron Movers and Will, Ned and Lyndon in particular for either long or short distance moves.
